Networking tips

Networking tip #1

You don’t have to start from scratch when it comes to networking. Think of 10 people that you have had, or continue to have, a great working relationship with. They could be current or past managers, colleagues, direct reports, mentors or mentees. Anyone you have worked with who has been a champion for your success.

Connect with them for a virtual coffee and nurture these relationships.

Networking tip #2

Not sure what to say in a networking scenario or a rapport building opportunity?

People love talking about themselves! To leverage this, you can ask:

How long have you worked at company [x]?

What made you decide to join company [x]?

What has made you stay with company [x]?

What do you love about working for company [x]?

What is the best career advice you’ve been given?

If you are looking for work, be sure to make this known during this conversation, including the kind of role you are seeking.
