JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Cook A
Location: The Beach House – Beach Restaurant & Bar
Reports To: Head Chef / Executive Chef

Position Overview
The Cook A is a senior line cook responsible for managing a designated kitchen section and ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation in accordance with The Beach House standards. As a key member of the culinary team, the Cook A must demonstrate strong technical cooking skills, leadership abilities, consistency, and the ability to perform efficiently in a high-volume beach restaurant environment.

This role plays a vital part in delivering an exceptional dining experience that reflects the vibrant, fresh, and high-quality identity of The Beach House.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation & Execution
  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to standardized recipes and plating guidelines.
  • Manage a specific kitchen section (grill, sauté, cold kitchen, fry, etc.).
  • Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.
  • Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food safety and quality.
  • Maintain speed and accuracy during peak service hours.

Kitchen Operations

  • Set up and stock assigned station before service.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients (FIFO).
  • Minimize waste and control food costs through careful portioning and handling.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstation at all times.
  • Assist with inventory checks and stock control.

Quality & Standards

  • Maintain high hygiene and food safety standards in compliance with local regulations.
  • Ensure all food leaving the kitchen meets The Beach House quality standards.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or shortages immediately.
  • Follow all HACCP and food safety procedures.
  • Teamwork & Leadership
  • Assist in supervising Cook B, Cook C, and Commis staff.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior kitchen staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house team.

Maintain professional communication during service.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a professional kitchen.
  • Experience in high-volume restaurant or beach/seafood concept preferred.
  • Culinary diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
