Job Title: Steward (Cleaner) – NEED TO HAVE WORK PERMIT
Job Summary
We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Steward to join our team. The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards in the kitchen, dining, and back-of-house areas. This role plays a critical part in supporting overall restaurant operations and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Sanitation (Kitchen & Back-of-House)
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using dishwashers or by hand.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation surfaces.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, storage areas, refrigerators, and garbage stations.
- Dispose of trash and recycling in accordance with health and safety standards.
Restaurant Cleaning (Front-of-House)
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum dining areas before, during, and after service.
- Clean windows, glass doors, mirrors, and fixtures.
- Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, including replenishing supplies (soap, tissue, paper towels).
- Ensure entrance areas, walkways, and waiting areas remain clean and presentable.
- Assist with deep cleaning tasks as scheduled (carpet cleaning, polishing, high dusting).
- Immediately address spills and hazards to maintain guest safety.
Kitchen Support
- Transport clean dishes and utensils to appropriate storage areas.
- Ensure adequate supply of clean dishes and kitchenware during service hours.
- Refill cleaning chemicals and operate dishwashing machines properly.
Inventory & Organization
- Organize and store kitchen supplies and equipment.
- Report shortages, breakages, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries following company procedures.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Follow all local health department regulations.
- Adhere to company hygiene and safety standards.
- Wear proper uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free working environment.
- Follow proper chemical handling and storage procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift up to (23 kg).
Working Conditions
- Standing for extended periods.
- Exposure to heat, steam, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.
